  • From Madison

    Take US-151 south toward Dodgeville. Take WI-126/CR-G (Exit 26) south toward Belmont. Turn right onto CR-G, which is First Capitol Dr. Continue to follow CR-G, following signs to the site.

  • From Chicago

    Take I-90 west toward Rockford. Stay on I-90 west into Wisconsin. Take US-18 west at Madison (Exit 142A). Take US-151 south toward Dodgeville. Take WI-126/CR-G (Exit 26) south toward Belmont. Turn right onto CR-G, which is First Capitol Dr. Continue to follow CR-G, following signs to the site.

  • From Dubuque

    Take US-151 north into Wisconsin. Take WI-126/CR-G (Exit 26) south toward Belmont. Turn right onto CR-G, which is First Capitol Dr. Continue to follow CR-G, following signs to the site.

  • From Milwaukee

    Take I-94 west toward Madison. Merge onto I-90 east (via Exit 4A). Take US-18 west at Madison (Exit 142A). Take US-151 south toward Dodgeville. Take WI-126/CR-G (Exit 26) south toward Belmont. Turn right onto CR-G, which is First Capitol Dr. Continue to follow CR-G, following signs to the site.

ACCESSIBILITY

First Capitol’s lodging and council houses both have wheelchair ramps. Due to the scale used in historic buildings, access is somewhat limited. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals requiring wheelchairs for mobility. While no pets are allowed on the museum grounds, service animals are permitted for persons with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

No guns, knives, or weapons allowed on the premises.
